Is it okay to use mild human shampoo on a short haired dog?

It seems to work fine on our old lab mix.Is it okay to use mild human shampoo on a short haired dog?
Yes, shampoos like baby shampoo are okay so long as you rinse it out very well. Dogs should not be washed too often though, unless they are very dirty or smell bad. It could dry their skin out too much. Dogs don't sweat through their skin like humans so they do not need daily, or weekly baths. Is it okay to use mild human shampoo on a short haired dog?
Human shampoo is too drying for use on a dog. Use only shampoo formulated for dogs. Many human shampoos also contain chemicals that are very irritating to a dog's skin. Many dogs break out in rashes, itching, or dandruff if human shampoo is used on them. It should only be used in an emergency.

Why do dogs need their own kind of shampoo? Manufacturers say their products are gentle enough to prevent the natural oils in a dog's coat from being stripped, but strong enough to get out the dirt. Note: Dogs skin is much different and dryer from human skin which contains more oils.
Although it's not ideal, it would be okay if you diluted it with some water in a bottle first.
If it works fine then ok. But just to be sure, especially if it is mild shampoo, then go to your vet and ask if it is ok.
No the ph level in human shampoo is too much for an animal to handle. You need to use dog shampoo.
I would try a Johnson's shampoo. My puppy uses it and he is fine. However, if you notice flaking skin go back to your puppy specific shampoos.
without a doubt. it may give them a little dandruff though.
I have used normal shampoo on my dog before and she was fine so im sure its ok
